Devon talks about his plans for the summer and beyond, "on my way" video blog post

Summary:
Having just graduated from high school in June, Devon is excited about his future. In this video Devon and his mom, Eileen, talk about their plans for summer and beyond.

Having just graduated from high school in June, Devon is excited about his future. He wants to go to College in September and learn how to drive a forklift so he can work in a warehouse. He also wants to get a part-time job at Thrifty’s, where he did work experience during high school. He hopes that they’ll see he was a good worker and hire him. Many students who need extra support go back to high school for an “overage year” after they graduate but Devon doesn’t plan on going back.

Devon has a passion for theatre and stagecraft. He worked on set design during high school and wants to continue being involved in stagecraft after he graduates. He thinks the school may still need his help.

Devon’s mom Eileen just recently filled out the forms required for Devon to receive his PWD (persons with disability) benefits. Eileen has received support from SHARE services and the Simon Fraser Society for Community Living to get through the process. She’s also spoken with people at Community Living BC about what kind of supports Devon can receive when he turns 19.
