About our Advocacy Program

Inclusion BC provides free advocacy support to families of children and youth with disabilities and diverse learning needs, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families. This could mean connecting you with resources in your community, offering information, creating a plan, and supporting you to advocate for the services you need.

Inclusion BC’s advocates are skilled, experienced, and knowledgeable. If you’re not sure who you should be talking to, get in touch and we’ll connect you with the right person or organization.

Our program operates by appointment. You can expect a response to your first outreach to us within 24-48 business hours. If your situation is within our scope, you will be assisted in booking an intake appointment with our advocates. Our advocates also book follow-up calls and meetings based on their availability during designated hours to support people and families.

Due to the provincial nature of our program, our advocates are not able to attend in-person meetings but can call in or join you virtually if needed.

Inclusion BC staff are primarily guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (UNCRPD) which recognizes the full citizenship and human rights of people with intellectual disabilities.

Our advocacy is person-centered, rights-based, collaborative, and solution-focused to build a world where everybody belongs.

Policy and Systems Advocacy

When we talk to families and individuals we learn about what’s working and what’s not and what needs to change at a policy and systems level. Check out our campaigns to learn more about how we’re trying to make a difference and change systems for the better.
