Retired Prince George School Administrator Recognized with National Inclusive Education Award

Monday, April 30, 2012

New Westminster, B.C., April 30, 2012 – A retired school services administrator from Prince George will be receiving a National Inclusive Education award from the Canadian Association for Community Living and the British Columbia Association for Community Living. Carl Anserello is being commended for his pivotal role in promoting a culture of inclusion at the district level and ensuring that students with special needs have full access to all classes with the support they need.

The call for award nominations was announced in February, as part of National Inclusive Education Month, celebrated in February across Canada. Mr. Anserello has been recognized along with three other winners in B.C.

Carl Ansellero was instrumental in developing policies and principles that helped guide teachers to include all students. The impact of his creative and innovative approaches within School District #57 has left a legacy extending to the community and province. He was a trailblazer who refused to accept nothing less than full inclusion for all children regardless of their needs.

Carl Anserello is a shining example of how one person with vision, determination and passion can make a huge impact. Congratulations Carl!

National Inclusive Education Month provides an opportunity to acknowledge and recognize the commitment and effort of teachers, administrators, students, and families who contribute to successful inclusion of students in schools and classrooms throughout Canada.

We know inclusive education works. Children who learn together in school also learn to live well together as adults and are better able to create communities where everyone belongs. For more information on Inclusive Education week, visit www.bcacl.org
