February is National Inclusive Education Month

As Canadians, we value our diverse communities. We also know inclusive education works! Children who learn together in welcoming, inclusive schools also learn to live well together as adults. They grow up to help build strong and diverse communities where "we all belong."

Each February, as Canada celebrates the importance of inclusive education, we come together to raise awareness of its many benefits. Inclusion BC invites families, self advocates, members and partners in inclusion to join us in celebrating our successes and raising understanding of how inclusive education matters in your community.

2017 National Inclusive Education Awards

To celebrate National Inclusive Education Month and the many successful inclusive classrooms and schools across the country, the Canadian Association for Community Living (CACL) created a national certificate to honour those who have made an exceptional contribution to inclusive education in their communities.

Do you know an exceptional inclusive educator? Anyone is welcome to submit nominations. Join us in celebrating the wonderful educators across Canada who are helping to make our schools more welcoming, supportive and inclusive so that all students feel they truly belong. (Submission deadline: April 15, 2017):

This year's award recipients will be recognized at our annual event in Richmond in June 2017.

Join us for a Forum on Restoring Inclusive Education to hear from educators, parents and other experts on how and why we need to work together to restore inclusive education in our public schools.
