Resources on Institutions

If you are looking for a resource and cannot find it in BCACL's resource section on institutions, check out these sites below.

Institution Watch (www.institutionwatch.ca) is the official web site of the People First of Canada and Canadian Association for Community Living joint Task Force on Deinstitutionalization. The site has many research articles and reports related to deinstitutionalization and community living. It also has relevant upcoming events, photos and updates from across the country. Institution Watch also puts out a newsletter that can be found here.

Disability Alliance BC (formerly the BC Coalition of People with Disabilities)(www.disabilityalliancebc.org) has been working with former residents of Woodlands Institution in their struggle for justice. The website has many resources regarding the class action lawsuit filed by the "We Survived Woodlands" group. Visit the Woodlands section of the DABC website here.
