Overdue: the case for increasing the persons with disabilities benefit in BC

Summary: 
The Disability Without Poverty Network (of which Inclusion BC, formerly BCACL, is a member) has issued a report on the case for increasing PWD benefits in B.C.

The network includes Inclusion BC, the BC Coalition of People with Disabilities, the Canadian Mental Health Association - BC and Yukon Division, Social Planning and Research Council and the Community Legal Assistance Society.

The report includes the following proposals:

  •     Increase the PWD benefit to $1,200 per month
  •     Index the PWD benefit
  •     Establish a shelter assistance program for people with disabilities
