Marking the 20th anniversary of the 1989 unanimous resolution of of the House to eliminate poverty among Canadian children by the year 2000, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills, and Social Development and the Status of Persons With Disabilities, acknowledged the failed motion and committed once again "to develop an immediate plan to eliminate poverty in Canada for all".
