About the Workshop:Understanding when and how to discuss sexual health with older youth can be a daunting task for parents of youth/young adults who have an intellectual or developmental disability.

This session we welcome Nicky Waring, a sexual health educator, who will discuss sexuality, healthy relationships, and how parents can broach these topics with older youth and young adults.

Workshop content will include the following:

  • The importance of teaching young people about sexuality and healthy relationships
  • How sexuality impacts our sense-of-self and relationships
  • Self-reflection for parents on their own education and values in this area
  • An overview of the skills necessary for us all to have healthy relationships
  • Resources for parents and how to talk about and teach particular skills

Please note that this workshop is intended for parents of youth and/or young adults aged 16 years and over.

If you have any questions about the workshop or about how to register, please contact Kathy Trotter by calling 604-528-3950 ext. 332
