Budget 2011 Consultation Dates Announced

The provincial government is asking for public input as it forms its 2011 budget. Members of the public can now register to present to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services. Meetings are held across the province.

Representatives from the BC Association for Community Living will be presenting in Vancouver on September 15, 2010.

All details can be found at www.leg.bc.ca/budgetconsultations.

The Standing Committee’s schedule and locations for public hearings can be found here: http://www.leg.bc.ca/budgetconsultations/public_hearing.asp.

BCACL encourages as many people from our movement as possible to present to the committee – stories from self advocates, families and service providers all make an impact. The more messages they hear urging financial investments to promote full inclusion and citizenship for children and youth with special needs, adults with developmental disabilities and their families the better.

BCACL will share our budget presentation and key messages on this website in the near future.

If you are able to make a presentation and if we can be of any assistance to you in developing your presentation or speaking notes, please let us know. Contact Karen Delong at 604-777-9100 ext. 530 kdelong@bcacl.org

Together we can ensure the voice of the community living movement is heard.
